Use Cases#

Practical workflows for OptScale AI Chat beyond day-to-day messaging. For layout and controls, see Interface Overview.

Migrate chat history#

Teams often move from standalone assistants to OptScale AI so conversations sit under organization governance—allowed providers, policies, and shared history—instead of scattered personal accounts. Export your threads from the source assistant, then import them into AI Chat to continue work in one place.

The general workflow consists of exporting chat history from supported assistants and importing it into Chat. For prerequisites and the import procedure, see Import chats.

Export from ChatGPT#

  1. Sign in at chatgpt.com.
  2. Open your profile menu (bottom left) → SettingsData controls.
  3. Click Export data and confirm the request.
  4. When you receive the OpenAI export email, download the generated ZIP archive or JSON file.
  5. Use the downloaded file for import. The import flow accepts archive files directly, so extracting the ZIP file is not required.

Export from Claude#

  1. Sign in at claude.ai on the web or Claude Desktop (export is not available in the mobile apps).
  2. Click your initials (bottom left) → SettingsPrivacy.
  3. Click Export data, choose a time range (for example All time), and confirm.
  4. Download the ZIP from the email link when it arrives.
  5. Use the downloaded file for import. The import flow accepts archive files directly, so extracting the ZIP file is not required.

Export from Gemini#

  1. Sign in at takeout.google.com with the Google account you use for Gemini.
  2. Click Deselect all, then enable only My Activity.
  3. Open Multiple formats → set JSON for Actively recordsOK.
  4. Open All activity data includedDeselect all → select only Gemini AppsOK.
  5. Choose delivery method and .zip format, then create the export.
  6. Download the ZIP from the email link when it arrives.
  7. Use the downloaded file for import. The import flow accepts archive files directly, so extracting the ZIP file is not required.

After import#

  • Reopen imported threads from the Chats sidebar; use the menu to rename or delete them like native conversations.
  • If a thread does not appear, confirm the export file matches the selected source platform and that the vendor link had not expired before download.
  • For governance-sensitive content, review organization policies and guardrails before sharing imported threads with additional users.
